Report No. 229/2026 from the Chief Executive presents the monthly management report covering the council's activities and operations. Agreed without discussion.
The monthly management report is a statutory requirement. Section 136(2) of the Local Government Act 2001, as inserted by Section 51 of the Local Government Reform Act 2014, requires the Chief Executive to prepare Monthly Management Reports for the council. The Chief Executive of Dublin City Council is Richard Shakespeare. Councillors usually "note" the report. It is an update on operations, not a decision on a policy or a spending proposal. That helps explain why it can be agreed without discussion.
The reports are long and organised by department. Recent editions cover road maintenance, waste management, climate action, planning and economic development, culture, community, leisure and area services, and the Law Department. The July 2026 edition, for example, described new digital work processes introduced by the Waste Management Department. Other items in 2026 reports include the Dublin Waste to Energy Community Gain Fund and the Dublin District Heating Project. The same reports also track planning matters such as the Broombridge Hamilton Masterplan (SDRA 18), which is part of a variation to the Dublin City Development Plan 2022-2028.
For citizens, the report is one of the few single documents that gathers what the council's departments are doing: service delivery, projects, and progress against targets. It lets residents see how services are being run between votes. Scheduling can affect how much attention a report gets. Report No. 18/2026 was not reached at the January 2026 meeting and was carried forward to the next one. The full reports are published on the council's meeting portal, councilmeetings.dublincity.ie, and its Moderngov site.
