Dublin Fire Brigade (DFB) had its busiest Halloween night in 15 years. Of 1,620 calls processed on Saturday night, 470 were directly related to Halloween festivities. The brigade said call volumes were up by more than 60 per cent compared with last year's figure of 1,040 calls. Media reports put fire-related calls at 558 by midnight, up from 320 the previous Halloween. Chief Fire Officer Greg O'Dwyer said Halloween fell on a very dry, mild Saturday night, so fires would have spread more easily. Earlier in October, DFB had warned of 155 Halloween-related calls in just eight hours as rival areas burned each other's bonfire stockpiles.
The 2026 IPB Pride of Place Awards were held on 24 October. Dublin City Council hosted them at the Convention Centre. They are now in their 24th year and are the largest community awards in the country. They are organised by the peacebuilding charity Co-operation Ireland and sponsored by IPB Insurance.
The Dublin–Douglas agreement is a Friendship and Cooperation Agreement, described as less formal than twinning. It was signed at Douglas City Hall on 21 October during a visit by the Lord Mayor, Cllr Daryl Barron, and an eight-member delegation. It identifies cooperation on culture and language, tourism, education, environmental protection and opportunities for young people. Dublin's Protocol Committee agreed in September 2025 to proceed to a formal draft friendship agreement. Reports said the agreement would be reviewed every five years.
